Haloacetic Acids

You can use certain chemicals such as sodium hydroxymethanesulfonate, sodium hydroxymethane sulfinic acid, or sodium thiosulfate to dechlorinate water and remove other contaminants such as ammonia. Although this is an effective method, it’s not recommended because it reduces oxygen levels in water and can damage organic filters.
